The CRTC has officially announced it has received our application to bring a brand-new, independent radio station to the Truro area. If approved, CKTR-FM will be the first new commercial radio station licensed in Truro since 1965!

Right now, a huge portion of our local airwaves is dominated by out-of-market stations broadcasting from Halifax or New Glasgow. We believe Truro shouldn't have to listen to another town's news, traffic, and commercials. Our vision is a station that celebrates our region's unique culture, and offering a dedicated local alternative that keeps Truro listeners tuned into Truro.

But to cross the finish line, we need your voice. The CRTC is currently asking the community if Truro has the capacity for a new radio option. Please take 2 minutes to file a quick letter of support to show regulators that Truro is underserved and ready for its own vibrant choice on the dial!

Filing your comment on the CRTC website is simple, but you must follow these specific steps to ensure your voice is officially counted:

Select Your Option: Choose "My intervention is: (required) In support" when prompted for your position.

I believe Truro has grown significantly and absolutely has the economic capacity to support a new, locally owned choice on the dial.
