Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for western and central parts of the province, including the District of Lunenburg. The weather agency says a slow-moving weather system is expected to bring significant rainfall from Thursday night through Saturday night. Sustained heavy downpours and thunderstorms are expected, with rainfall rates of 10 to 20 mm per hour in some locations.
