We’ll know Friday if school support staff workers will walk off the job on Monday. The union representing 5,500 workers says it will issue a 48-hour strike notice on Friday if a deal isn’t reached with eight regional centres for education. The strike could begin on Monday. CUPE says it’s looking for a $3.50 hourly wage increase over four years. The strike will affect educational assistants, bus drivers, janitors and custodians, cafeteria staff, secretaries and early childhood educators. Contract negotiations are at a standstill.
