Tick-borne illnesses are on the rise in the province. Anaplasmosis and Lyme disease are both transmitted by infected black-legged ticks. So far this year, there have been 400 cases of anaplasmosis in the province, according to the Nova Scotia Health Department. In all of 2025, there were 681 cases. In 2025, there were 2,788 cases of Lyme disease in the province, up more than 400 cases from 2024.
