The provincial Liberals have set out their priorities for the fall sitting of the legislature. Interim Leader Iain Rankin says the focus of the party will be on making life more affordable for Nova Scotians amid the Houston government’s budget cuts and the tariff war. He says that in the first week of the legislature, the Liberals will table a suite of bills aimed at lowering grocery prices, including removing provincial taxes on all food items, increasing competition by making it easier for independent grocers to open stores, and banning pricing measures such as surveillance pricing and restrictive property controls.
