Using Canadian Forces Base Halifax as a backdrop, Prime Minister Mark Carney announced a German company is the preferred supplier of Canada’s next fleet of submarines. The PM announced Monday that T-K-M-S will deliver several subs by 2034. Ottawa says this will be the largest defence procurement in Canadian history, and it will equip the Royal Canadian Navy with the capabilities they need to keep Canadians safe. The federal government will now enter into negotiations with the company and hope to have a contract by next year.
