As Mooseland Road wildfire evacuees return home, Nova Scotians are being reminded to do their part to prevent fires. Minister of Natural Resources Tony Rushton says so far this year 100 fires have been reported in the province. He says that is more than double the number the province had at the same time last year. He advises residents to check the BurnSafe map every day at 2:00 in the afternoon, follow restrictions in your area, and be careful when having a fire or disposing of cigarettes. During wildfire season, no brush burning or campfires are allowed between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The fine for not following the daily burn restrictions is $25,000. Meanwhile, the Mooseland Road fire remains at 1,447 hectares.
