A strike by Nova Scotia Power Workers has been averted. The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1928 issued a statement on Friday that its members had voted to accept a new contract offer. The union had filed a 48-hour strike notice to hit the picket lines on Monday, but the company revamped its offer. That new agreement included a $1,000 signing bonus and a four per cent wage increase in each year of the three year deal.
