Nova Scotia Power can’t explain why customer information wasn’t deleted

At a Nova Scotia Energy Board hearing, officials with Nova Scotia Power couldn’t explain why the personal information of customers wasn’t deleted. The digital copies of customers' banking information, social insurance numbers, email addresses and other information spanning three decades were supposed to be automatically deleted. It was not, and was accessed by hackers in a March 2025 cyberattack. The hearing is expected to continue Thursday.
