Canada earned a D+ on this year’s poverty report card from Food Banks Canada. The province of Nova Scotia has been given a slightly lower grade of D. It received a failing grade of F for poverty measures, including the unemployment rate, food insecurity, and social assistance as a percentage of the poverty line. Nova Scotia made gains in material deprivation indicators and improved over last year, from an F to a C, with people feeling less worse off.
