The Town of Lunenburg has made significant progress in addressing the recent water system issues, but crews still have work to complete before the system is fully operational.
The breach has now been secured, with efforts focused on returning all three pumps at the pumping station to full operation. Currently, two pumps are operating below full capacity, while the third remains offline.
Despite the challenges of the past several days, town officials say residents and businesses have been cooperative throughout the process as crews worked to maintain a safe and reliable water supply.
Water conservation measures will be eased beginning at 6 p.m. today, although officials say some restrictions will remain in place while repairs continue.
The Water Conservation Directive cannot yet be fully lifted, and residents are being asked to continue conserving water in accordance with the updated directive.
Officials say continued conservation is important to ensure the easing of restrictions does not compromise the Utility’s ability to provide reliable, continuous water service to customers.
Crews will continue working toward restoring all three pumps to full capacity and returning the water system to normal operations.
