Lunenburg District RCMP Charge Ontario Man in Online Investment Scam

Lunenburg District RCMP charged an Ontario man after investigating an online investment scam. A Hebbville resident reported losing over $65,000 to what appeared to be a legitimate UK investment firm. Victims across Canada were misled into believing they were buying Government of Canada bonds and would earn interest. When payments stopped and the real company confirmed the accounts were fake, police linked the cases and forwarded them to the RCMP’s Integrated Market Enforcement Team . Investigators identified a suspect connected to the Hebbville complaint. John L. Marshall, 65, of Palgrave, Ontario, is charged with fraud and is set to appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on June 17.
