If the latest opinion poll is accurate, things are looking up for the Houston government. The Abacus Data online poll of 600 Nova Scotians shows 35 per cent of those asked approve of the government’s performance. That’s up five points from July. If an election were held tomorrow 40 per cent would vote for Houston’s PC Party, while the NDP would get 33 per cent of the vote and the Liberals at 22 per cent. Houston’s approval plunged after the spring budget, which cut programs and departments by $300 million. After backlash from community organizations, Houston reversed the decision and reinstated about $53 million in grants.
