Premier Tim Houston says more doctors means better access to healthcare. Houston says in the past year Nova Scotia welcomed 278 new doctors, for a net gain of 199 physicians. That means 278 physicians started practicing in Nova Scotia during the last fiscal year, while 79 left the province or retired. The province’s recruitment included physicians from across Canada and internationally. Houston also says expanded medical education through Dalhousie and the new Cape Breton Medical Campus will increase doctors' training in the province and help build their future in Nova Scotia.
