The Municipality of Chester says repairs to the Gold River bridge are on time and on budget. All timber ties have been removed from the east span, and rust removal with hand tools is proceeding prior to the sandblasting of the top flange. A new location for the east abutment has been confirmed, with the footing staked. Steel gusset repairs on the west span are complete, as are the mid and topcoat applications to the top flanges of the west span. It's hoped the bridge will reopen in late fall.
