The federal Finance Minister has resigned. Chrystia Freeland posted her resignation letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on X just after 9:00 Eastern. In her letter, she says it was an honour to serve in government. She states that on Friday, Trudeau told her he no longer wanted her as Finance Minister and offered her another role in the Cabinet. She says the only honest decision was to resign her position. Freeland says she will run for re-election as a Liberal MP. Freeland resigned just hours before she was to deliver the Liberal government’s fall economic statement.
