Bridgewater Mayor David Mitchell says Prime Minister Mark Carney’s decision to walk away from trade negotiations was the right call “without question.” Mitchell says that instead of good-faith negotiations, the U.S. tried to “bully their way to a deal.” Mitchell says, “Walking away was the right thing to do and time is on our side. What we need to do now is support Canadian workers, farmers, producers, entrepreneurs and innovators. We need to shop local and invest in local at every scale.” He ended with positive remarks on what he believes: “I believe we will persevere. I believe we will thrive. I believe in our people. I believe in our value to the world. I believe in Canada!”
