I wanted listeners to understand that this is part of real life; how prejudice can still surface, even in my 82-year-old cousin who grew up with a gay twin brother.
But I also wanted to leave people with hope. My message is that we need to keep bringing everyone inside the circle. That's the world I'm trying to encourage, one smile at a time.
